Leandro grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. After earning his bachelor’s degree in music composition at Faculdade de Artes Alcantara Machado, he attended Berklee College of Music to pursue his studies in jazz. He has gained an impressive reputation among his peers and has worked with many of today’s greatest jazz musicians.
In 2013, Leandro became the first guitarist from South America to win First Prize at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition. He has performed and recorded with many top artists, including Terri Lynne Carrington, Dianne Reeves, John Patitucci, Romero Lubambo, Donny McCaslin, Joe Lovano, Danilo Perez and Rufus Reid.
Leandro is a sought-after educator, with more than 12 years’ experience teaching students of different ages and musical backgrounds. He is deeply committed to helping other guitarists excel at their craft, and believes that learning should be a fun and exciting process.
