Hattie, a Korean American violinist, is a professional, freelance performer and a dedicated violin teacher based in Manhattan. She has extensive experience performing contemporary and classical music. 

 

Born in Seoul and raised in Texas, Hattie started playing the violin at the age of nine. She has studied with Arnaud Sussmann and Jennifer Frautschi, violin performance faculty at Stony Brook University. She holds Master's degrees in violin performance from Manhattan School of Music and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Oberlin College and Conservatory.

 

Hattie’s past instructors include former Minnesota Orchestra Concertmaster Jorja Fleezanis, Milan Vitek, Curtis Macomber, Mimi Zweig, and Hal Grossman. Hattie has been invited to festivals such as Lucerne Festival Academy, National Repertory Orchestra, Music in the Mountains, Bowdoin International Music Festival and many more. 

 

Hattie has been teaching professionally for almost ten years. She is a passionate teacher and tailors each student’s lessons to fit their unique interests and personality. Her teaching style is focused on building balance between a strong technical foundation and musicianship, while setting individualized goals for each of her students. Her students describe her teaching style as supportive, attentive, fun, and patient.
