Emily is a versatile and dynamic singer who has been working professionally for over 20 years. Emily has worked as a recording artist with Universal and Sony Records and with artists including Katy Perry and Billy Joel. Emily has been featured in live performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Rachel Ray Show and internationally in theaters and on cruise ships.
Emily studied Vocal Performance and Keyboard Accompaniment at The Musician's Institute in Hollywood, where she received the award for Most Promising Vocalist. She has also studied privately for decades in classical Bel Canto technique, rock vocals and musical theater styles. Emily has worked extensively as a musical theater actor, in singing roles including Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Sally Bowles in Cabaret and Elsa in Frozen on board Japan's M.S. Asuka II.
Emily recognizes that the voice is a muscle system that must be worked and strengthened, just like any other. Through patience and gentle encouragement, Emily helps students build range and repertoire, while maintaining a healthy vocal technique.
Emily's teaching philosophy revolves around helping students enjoy and command their instruments with ease. She believes that no two voices are alike and thus, no two lessons should be alike. Emily hopes that each student leaves their lesson with knowledge and tools for improvement, as well as inspiration and renewed excitement for music.
